Garcia Out at South Carolina

This comes to no surprise for any college football fan, especially SEC and South Carolina fans.  Former starting quarterback and fifth-year senior Stephen Garcia was dismissed earlier today after failing a drug and alcohol test. You would think five suspensions would get the point across.
Stephen Garcia was dismissed from the team earlier this week for failing a drug and alcohol test.

I don't feel sorry for Garcia, because he was given several chances by Coach Steve Spurrier. Personally, I was getting tired of watching Garcia slowly, but surely potentially ruining the Gamecock's chances at earning a second consecutive SEC Eastern title. Last weekend, after a poor performance in the team's first loss of the season to Auburn, Garcia was benched and back-up quarter back Connor Shaw was given the opportunity to lead the team. This was a move that should have been made in the second half against Auburn. Shaw threw for four touchdowns and 311 yards in the 54-3 blowout win against Kentucky. Upon hearing the news that Garcia was done for, I was upset. Not because Garcia was kicked off the team, but because the opportunity for Alabama for payback in SEC Championship for last years' 21-35 loss at South Carolina will go un-avenged. Despite this, I still hope Alabama wins the West, South Carolina wins the East, and for the Gamecocks to suffer a more degrading defeat than last year's loss to Auburn.
